Do I need an appointment?

No. You do not need an appointment. You can come during posted business hours and follow the signs to the drop off entrance.

Do I need an ID?

Yes. Every person selling scrap must be at least 18 years old and present a valid government issued photo ID for every transaction.

What scrap metal do you accept?

We accept most common metals, including steel, cast iron, prepared and unprepared iron, aluminum, copper, brass, stainless steel, car batteries, large appliances, small appliances, motors, and machinery. For a full list, see our Materials We Accept page.

Do you take aluminum cans?

Yes. You can bring aluminum cans and other aluminum items such as siding, storm windows, and lawn furniture.

Do you take appliances like fridges, freezers, and air conditioners?

We accept many appliances. Items with Freon or other refrigerants may carry a disposal fee. Check our fee list or call ahead before loading refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, or air conditioning units.

Do you take water heaters, furnaces, and HVAC units?

Yes, we accept common HVAC appliances. If you are bringing a large number of units or a mixed load from a job, you can call ahead so we can advise on unloading and any possible fees.

Do you take electronics like TVs and computer monitors?

No. TruMetal does not accept TVs, computer monitors, or other electronic waste. You will need to bring those items to an approved e-waste drop off site.

Do you take household trash, mattresses, or furniture?

No. TruMetal is a metal recycling center. We do not accept household garbage, mattresses, couches, dressers, or concrete. Loads with excessive non-metal may be refused.

What items are not allowed at TruMetal?

We do not accept lithium-ion batteries, hazardous or flammable materials, radioactive materials, asbestos or PCB-containing items, mercury-containing devices, electronic waste, medical or biohazard waste, explosives or ammunition, full sealed or pressurized containers, or general household trash.

How do you determine what my scrap is worth?

Scrap metal is priced using current market rates and the weight of your material. Metal is weighed on a scale, and your payout is based on the type of metal and its weight. All transactions are rounded to the nearest dollar.

How will I get paid?

Cash. You are paid after your material is weighed and priced. You must present your ID before payment is issued. All transactions are rounded to the nearest dollar.

Can I buy metal from TruMetal?

Yes. TruMetal supplies recycled metal to buyers such as mills and foundries. Visit our Buy From Us page to contact us with the grades and quantities you are looking for.
